Welcome messages

General Anantaporn Kanjanarat

The Minister of Energy
Royal Government of Thailand

On behalf of the Royal Government of Thailand, and the Ministry of Energy, I am pleased to announce that we will once again exclusively endorse SETA 2018 as Asia’s  premier platform to address strategies and plans, as well as seek solutions for issues in the forefront of sustainable energy.

Asia’s economic growth will spiral in the coming decades.  Its GDP is forecast to rise exponentially to some 80 percent by year 2040 – undoubtedly bringing tremendous energy needs across the region. Coupled with other challenges — the global CO2 mitigation endeavours and the increasing fluctuations of oil and gas prices — Asia critically faces the need for energy diversity : solutions  that are safe, cost effective and sustainable.   Consolidation of efforts throughout the region is an important success factor particularly synergistic and collaborative solutions to produce, manage and consume energy.

SETA 2018 – held in Thailand – is a timely platform to address the renewables energy markets.   We are in the proximity of the CLMV countries with its huge markets and an overall GDP growth of 6 percent, especially in energy investment.  Equally close are China and India : two giant economies already strong in renewable energy plans and strategies.  Thailand – an equally strong player in Asia –  has  strong policies and programs that support energy conservation and alternative energy.  The shift is gradual but positive : all through efforts  initiated and implemented with strong cooperation between the government, and key agencies as well as the private sector.

Beyond our search for new energy solutions, more importantly I reiterate — is the need to deliberate

on joint efforts and mutual benefits.  SETA 2018 –  Asia’s premier energy event – is the place  to facilitate this. Government leaders can take the stage to share their policies and strategies. Expert thought leaders share their research and findings. Investors can come and seize the extensive opportunities awaiting in Asia’s dynamic energy landscape.  Exhibitors and sponsors can come and showcase their products and projects and conference delegates can come and learn about the exciting and state-of-the art energy solutions that will fuel Asia towards greater economic growth.

I and my team look forward to welcoming you in Bangkok at SETA 2018 – from 21-23 March 2018 at BITEC!
